GPV is passionate about growing the next generation of golfers, and the district are pleased to present our Junior Pathway. This pathway provides families with all the information they need, from beginner events for those without a handicap to more advanced handicap tournaments as part of our Junior Order of Merit. Furthermore, 2018 will be the inaugural year of our GPV Development Squad.

MyGolf is Australia’s national junior introductory clinic program to develop and promote participation in golf. Have fun and learn the basics of golf at your local facility. To find a program near you visit www.mygolf.org.au.
Beginner Events (no handicap required)
MyGolf Junior League aims to provide a relaxed, fun, introductory competitive experience for MyGolfers who are currently participating in or who have graduated from their MyGolf Club Program. MyGolfers represent their facility in teams and play a 2-ball ambrose matchplay format.

Junior Order of Merit
The Junior Order of Merit (OOM) is a ranking event open to all junior members of an affiliated GPV club under the age of 19 and under as at January 1, 2018. The event comprises of all strokeplay events played within the district.
The top 10 boys in each event (gross and nett) receive points which accumulate throughout the year. The player earning the highest points in each section being awarded their respective trophies at the final event of the year, the Schools Championship. To be eligible for the trophy, a player must play at least 5 OOM tournaments with the best 4 scores counting.
Girls OOM (gross and nett) accumulate throughout the year, a player must play at least 5 OOM tournaments with the best 4 scores counting to be eligible for the title. The highest aggregate in both events being awarded their respective trophies at the final event of the year, the Schools Championship.
Clubs with sufficient active junior members take part in the annual Junior Pennant competition played during January – March each year. Teams of 6 juniors play a handicap matchplay format.
In 2017, we had 8 teams competing over 2 divisions.

In January each year applications will open for the GPV Development Squad. From these applications, the best performing players will be selected by the district into our Development Squad.
Ffunded by GPV and Golf Victoria, this program will provide participants with access to the best local coaching and service provision to help them improve their game.
Subject to applications, the Development Squad will comprise of approx. 8 – 12 district junior golfers each year.
From the Development Squad, players are selected for the below GPV teams based on their individual performances in district events (pennant and OOM) and level of engagement in the squad training sessions.

Victorian Junior Country Regions
A team of 9 junior boys from each country district compete in this event on an annual basis. The GPV team will be selected from the Development Squad from the previous year.
Girls Golf Getaway
A team of 3 junior girls from each country district compete in this event on an annual basis. The GPV team will be selected from the Development Squad from the current year.
GV Junior Pennant
GV Junior Pennant runs from October to December each year. The GPV team will be selected from the Development Squad from the current year.
